“The Agreement”, produced by Julian Black Antelope and directed by Michael Peterson, is a short docu-drama inspired by true events recounting Lt. George T. Davidson, a Medicine Hat lawyer, who gave up a life of privilege and wealth to serve in the trenches during WWI. The story is an existential journey of the feelings and emotions of this selfless and courageous figure as he reflects on the events leading up to his enlistment. Based on the August 26, 1914 minutes of the Medicine Hat Bar Association meeting where lawyers gathered to bid farewell to Davidson and Ivor Owen before embarking oversees. Tragically, Davidson’s prophetic words come to pass.
In the early morning hours of October 26, 1916, at the Somme battlefield, Lt. George T. Davidson and a non-commissioned officer were sent into ‘No Man’s Land’ to reconnoiter enemy barb wire entanglements in anticipation of an attack. Displaying courage under fire and altruism, Lt. Davidson makes the ultimate self-sacrifice.
